9. The Craft: Legacy

Considering that The Craft was a surprise box office hit and became something of a pop-culture phenomenon with teenagers throughout the '90s into the '00s, it's genuinely surprising that Sony didn't rush to produce a sequel.

A straight-to-video follow-up was considered in 2010 but never came to fruition, and in 2016 future Fear Street filmmaker Leigh Janiak was announced to be writing and directing a direct sequel.

This project also ended up going anywhere, after which Blumhouse took over development of the sequel which finally became The Craft: Legacy, as was released in 2020.

Considering the sustained, passionate fandom for The Craft, the 24-year gap absolutely didn't doom the sequel - it was the decision to keep the original cast out of it almost entirely, save for a last-minute cameo from Fairuza Balk.

Due to the pandemic's impact on cinemas, The Craft: Legacy was released direct to streaming in most major territories and so consequently bombed at the box office.

Though the film concluded by teasing a threequel with a larger role for Balk, there's precious little incentive for Blumhouse to get it going.
