3. National Treasure 3

Despite action-adventure sequel National Treasure: Book of Secrets grossing over $450 million globally back in 2007, Disney for some reason didn't race ahead with a third film, yet after almost two decades of waiting, franchise director Jon Turteltaub recently confirmed that National Treasure 3 is finally happening.

Turteltaub not only announced that the third film's script has been written and approved by all parties, including Disney, but that the threequel will indeed bring Nicolas Cage back to star.

It might seem like a given to get Cage back, but considering that 2022's swiftly forgotten spin-off TV series National Treasure: Edge of History tried to get away without even bringing Cage in for a perfunctory cameo, nothing was ever guaranteed.

The National Treasure films have remained hugely popular over the decades, and so the news that Cage is locked in makes it easy to have faith it'll be worth the long wait. 

Now, hopefully we'll get confirmation that Cage's co-stars Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha are also back for another go-around.
