Jurassic Park 4: 5 Reasons Some Fans Are Bound For Disappointment

1. Play it Straight Or Play It Fun

My biggest question is whether or not the film will make an attempt to return Jurassic Park toward its roots with scientific discussion, moral and ethical debates, and challenging the mainstream audience to expand their knowledge and horizons or will it just be a fun popcorn ride? It is a tough situation in which your damned if you do and damned if you don€™t. Somebody is bound to be upset and you€™ll probably have some diehard fans complaining whichever route it goes. If they try to make the film more toward the style of the original, they will probably have to expand the story in a way that would make fans uncomfortable €“ perhaps take it in very new, different directions akin to the rumors about mixing dinosaur, dog, and human DNA for a hybrid mutant creature. While I was skeptical about that premise, one must admit some fans are fickle and while they crave originality, they don€™t want anything €œtoo original.€ Case in point, Prometheus €“ a film that tried to expand upon the Alien mythology in what I thought was a very different, unexpected path. Despite the attempts to move the series toward something different, it was met with mixed reactions from fans. If the filmmakers try to play up the adventure and ignore the wonder-and-awe element, you run the risk of €œbeen there, done that.€ Most importantly, audiences are becoming more selective and are no longer solely enticed with big, splashy effects. If JPIV is to succeed both financially and creatively, it must balance story with action. Thoughts, comments, criticisms? Write your comments below!
