Marvel Cinematic Universe: 11 Films To Expect In Phase 4

2. Fantastic Four

Thanks to the Fox acquisition, characters like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four have finally returned home to Marvel, though the latter won't be joining the MCU right out of the gate, undoubtedly due to the logistical nightmare of suddenly introducing established mutants into the franchise and to let enough time pass for the dust to settle on two decades' worth of X-films before starting anew.

As for Marvel's First Family, however, it'd be much easier to find a way to bring them into the fold. The Fantastic Four being back at home puts them right in the arms of people who care about bringing them to life in the right way, and there's little doubt that their inevitable arrival in the franchise - along with Doctor Doom, who is also long overdue for proper treatment - will help wash the bad taste away of their current cinematic legacy.

Now, it's entirely possible that the Fantastic Four could sit out the next handful of years on the bench with the X-Men, but 2021 marks their 60th anniversary since they debuted in Marvel Comics, which would make for a perfect moment to reintroduce them on the big screen.

Directed by a passionate newcomer or even a returning MCU vet who could do wonders with the material like Joss Whedon or Taika Waititi, the gang would be great additions to the franchise, and that's not even taking into account how poetic it'd be to have the Four debut in Phase 4.
