12. The Visuals Have Aged Horribly
Despite being just seven years old, this is certainly one of the MCU's worst-aged movies aesthetically, in large part because it's so thoroughly reliant on visual effects.
The digital techniques used to transplant Chris Evans' face onto that of a scrawnier man for the pre-serum portion of the film are wince-inducingly dated today, with countless shots looking awkward and even straight-up ugly. It's clear that a big man's head has been pasted on a little guy's body, and it occasionally looks legitimately horrific.
The CGI employed during most of the action sequences is also rather on the ropey side, especially during the climactic airport assault, where Chris Evans and his co-stars are gaudily composited into backgrounds that would look amiss in a PS3 game.
And that's not to forget the head-scratching decision to shoot so much of the action on low-end digital cameras, ensuring it lacks the "filmic look" that audiences expect from Hollywood blockbusters.
At least the movie's tone makes its stylistic sloppiness a little easier to tolerate. Speaking of which...
