It just wouldn’t be a list about moments that pissed off MCU fans without this classic, where it’s revealed Ben Kingsley’s sinister Mandarin is actually a drunken British actor. Now The Mandarin was always a touchy subject within the Iron Man films since the character – let’s be honest – is a racial stereotype from a different era.

A straight adaptation wouldn’t have worked, but the character is such a big part of Iron Man lore he had to appear in some form. Shane Black's solution was to make the character a front designed by the real villain Killian, who created this mystical terrorist to draw attention away from himself. While some thought the twist was hilarious and a clever subversion, some fans were absolutely outraged.

They felt it was an insult to a classic villain, and the hate got so intense Marvel commissioned short film All Hail The King to let fans know the real Mandarin still exists somewhere.
