8. Captain America: Reborn

The Film

Now, killing Cap off would be a pretty brave statement, but it would follow on from the Civil War comics storyline, when Steve Rogers is "assassinated" and frozen between time and space.

Imagine for a minute that we could then see another period setting Captain America movie, bringing back the Howling Commandoes again and introducing some choice World War II battle sequences. That would be the ideal new direction after Infinity War.

Any Evidence?

None yet, but if they do genuinely kill off Cap to give Chris Evans a break, this would be the way to go to eventually bring him back.

Any Groundwork?

With Doctor Strange and Ant-Man both exploring interdimensional travel, it would be great to see either or both of them following Cap down the rabbit hole to rescue him. And that's pretty much exactly what seems to be happening in Ant-Man & The Wasp, so there will be precedent.

Also, we know that Red Skull is floating around somewhere in the ether after the Tesseract "obliterated" him, and this could represent a means to bring him back (as was originally planned).
