4. Gremlins 3

Even though Gremlins 2: The New Batch flopped back in 1990, the IP has remained popular enough that there have been numerous spirited attempts to get a third film off the ground over the decades.

And now one has finally stuck, as Gremlins 3 is imminently set to start shooting with the original film's writer, Chris Columbus, tapped to direct a script penned by himself and Final Destination Bloodlines filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.

Though no official casting announcements have been made yet, Columbus has dubbed the film a direct sequel rather than a reboot, suggesting original lead Zach Galligan will reprise his role of Billy Peltzer in some form.

Columbus has also assured concerned fans that the threequel will feature practical puppet effects rather than fully CGI Gremlins, hopefully ensuring it retains the charms of its predecessors.

A Gremlins sequel won't be easy to pull off in 2026, especially with the massive shadow cast by the utterly unhinged first sequel, but Columbus seems nothing if not passionate about doing it justice.
