20 Most Underrated Horror Movies EVER
8. The Strangers: Prey at Night
The dire recent reboot trilogy of The Strangers makes it a hell of a lot easier to appreciate the basically effective thrills of the very first sequel, 2018's The Strangers: Prey at Night.
While middlingly received upon initial release, the sequel has enjoyed something of a re-evaluation in recent times, many going to bat for its slick, no-nonsense slasher flick vibes.
Even beyond the iconic pool scene - which remains one of the most visually dazzling and perfectly scored sequences from any slasher film this past decade - this is a drum-tight 85-minute sprint of a movie.
While failing to match the pulsing eeriness of the original 2008 film, Prey at Night is squarely the series' second-best entry - a low bar, perhaps, but between Johannes Roberts' taut direction and strong performances from leads Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman, this a fine example of a basic assembly slasher that delivers the goods.
