20 Most Underrated Actors Working Today
6. Garrett Dillahunt
Many great actors are known for embodying their roles so completely that it becomes impossible to imagine another person playing them. Such is the case with Garrett Dillahunt, an actor so natural he makes everyone he plays feel as tangibly real as the man portraying them.
Dillahunt will be most recognised by fans of Fear the Walking Dead, where he played John Dorie for two-and-a-bit seasons of zombie-killing mayhem. The role transcended the performances around him, his vision of Dorie that of a quiet, peaceable man who could never quite outrun his demons.
Despite his success in the role, Dillahunt never received the acclaim thrown at his co-stars, which is a surprise given it was such a break-out role for a committed supporting actor who had spent his career offering depth and resilience to such classic movies as No Country for Old Men and Winter's Bone.
An understated performer at his best when playing haunted men with hearts of gold, he's turned up most recently in a host of successful blockbusters - Army of the Dead, Ambulance - but still his due acclaim avoids him.
