October is the latest film from brilliant Blue Ruin, Green Book, and Rebel Ridge director Jeremy Saulnier, and it's another A24-backed action-horror film that's being kept intriguingly under wraps despite wrapping shooting a good while ago.

What we do know is that the story takes place on Halloween night and involves "a terrifying chain of events," but beyond that you're largely free to make your own best guess.

A pre-production description suggested the film was a "fugitive thriller," but that's vague enough to not shed a whole lot more light on what to expect.

All the same, Saulnier is one of the most exciting and consistent genre filmmakers working today, and considering the stupid-good cast he's roped in for this one - including Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, Stephen Root, James Badge Dale, and Imogen Poots - it's easy to be tremendously excited.

No matter how the story turns out, expect gut-wrenching suspense, intense performances, and some gnarly ultra-violence.
