19. Influencers

Though 2022's horror-thriller Influencer became something of a cult hit once it landed on Shudder, the recent sequel Influencers ended up getting a relatively low-key, below-the-radar release despite being an absolutely barmy banger of a follow-up.

Rather than merely repeat the same concept again - of having influencer-hating serial killer CW (Cassandra Naud) target another hapless Internet celeb - Influencers is one hell of a bigger, bolder sequel.

Far more of a direct follow-up to the original than many expected, Influencers reconvenes with the fallout of CW's murderous acts in the first film, while shifting the setting from Thailand to both France and Indonesia.

It also has far more on its mind than merely satirising vapid influencer culture, this time taking to task alt-right streamers and the increasing prevalence of AI in our lives.

It all adds up to a gamy, ultra-violent, and at times hilariously absurd stew that even dares to set the stage for one hell of a bonkers threequel - which we hopefully won't have too long to wait for.
