20 Recent Horror Movies That NEED Sequels

8. Weapons

Zach Cregger's Weapons is one of the most successful horror films of the 2020s - a critical and commercial smash which also went on to win a well-earned Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the great Amy Madigan.

And so Cregger was near-immediately asked about a potential sequel, after which he confirmed that he was in fact developing a prequel centered around the film's witchy antagonist Gladys (Madigan).

Said prequel is currently pencilled in for a September 8, 2028 release, and regardless of your own feelings about a movie entirely about Gladys, there are many who would love to see a standalone sequel set in the world of the original movie.

Much like Obsession, it'd probably be foolish to stick with the original characters and try to strike gold again, but another ensemble horror film centered around witchcraft could absolutely be worth it - especially if Cregger is creatively involved in some fashion.
