Horror-comedy Jennifer's Body was a critical and commercial disappointment in 2009, many criticising studio Fox for marketing the film cynically towards teenage boys purely on the basis of Megan Fox's sex appeal rather than leaning into its punk-rock feminist messaging.

Since then Jennifer's Body has become something of a cult classic, especially in light of the #MeToo movement over the past decade, enough that director Karyn Kusama, writer Diablo Cody, and both Fox and Amanda Seyfried have continually talked-up their enthusiasm to make a sequel.

And though we've heard continued reports of Jennifer's Body 2 maybe happening, to many it seemed like a pie-in-the-sky sequel that would just never get the greenlight in such a risk-averse modern Hollywood.

But the sequel has finally been officially slated to begin shooting in October according to a listing on Production Weekly, likely with the intent of releasing around Halloween 2027.

No word on the plot yet, but Kusama, Cody, Fox, and Seyfried are all expected to return.
