The Best Documentary Feature field is notorious for its ridiculous snubs of highly-praised films, and the casualty this year was that Alex Gibney's Scientology doc Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, which was widely touted to be a front-runner in the category. Naturally many are going to speculate that Scientology may have compromised voters in the category somehow, and given the movie's important message about a horrifying organisation, its snub is a damn shame.
