5. Adapted Screenplay
A slightly weaker category this year - the Best Picture winner is almost certainly coming from the Original Screenplay side - but one that should throw up an interesting and eclectic mix of scripts.
Aaron Sorkin's writing is almost always a delight, and with Molly's Game pushed out elsewhere, voters will probably look to reward it here, and the same goes for The Disaster Artist and Mudbound. Of the films with a strong chance of a Best Picture nomination, though unlikely to win, Call Me By Your Name would win its biggest prize here. Logan picked up a surprising WGA nod here, and it'd be great to see it nominated, but it still feels like a longshot for Oscar voters.
