Much like Best Costume Design, this category tends to favour period fare, so there's virtually no chance Emma, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, or especially Mank don't make the cut.

Mulan and News of the World are more fringe picks and face stiff competition from Da 5 Bloods, One Night in Miami, and The Trial of the Chicago 7, while Tenet also shouldn't be entirely discounted as a potential spoiler.

Short of a disaster, though, Mank is basically running away with this and nothing will be able to stop it.
