The original Avatar won this award back in 2010, and it'd certainly be fitting to see James Cameron's sequel repeat the honour, given the jaw-dropping work that went into designing the expanded world of Pandora.

Babylon

Likely to be the single Oscar that Damien Chazelle's divisive Hollywood epic takes home - much to its passionate fans' disappointment - Florencia Martin and Anthony Carlino's work on Babylon was meticulous in recreating its era, no matter what you make of the movie.

It'll be something of a consolation prize for fans of the movie that Babylon wins something, in a field where honestly all five nominees shine pretty brightly.
