Now, this is an extremely tough one to call. It's still not quite clear what sort of effect the divisive response to Star Wars: The Last Jedi had on the brand - Solo's failure was dictated by many, many other factors - but there's no chance in hell the film makes less than $1 billion worldwide.

General audiences responded to The Last Jedi far more positively than the hardcore crowd, and so a slight drop from The Last Jedi for those who decide to skip it until home video feels about right.

We'll get countless box office analyses claiming the Star Wars brand is dead in the water because it isn't turning over $2 billion a pop, but Episode IX will probably be well-reviewed and enjoyed by most casual viewers.
