Predicting The 20 Best Movies Of 2013

3. Her

Spike Jonze is responsible for some of the most unique films of the last 20 years as his collaboration with write Charlie Kaufmann resulted in the acclaimed Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, both of which are extremely original, clever, and just straight-up good. As a solo filmmaker, Jonze has only made one film, 2009'sWhere the Wild Things Are. The film had a mixed reception but had many critics calling it one of the best films of that year. in 2013, Jonze returns with his own screenplay and a ridiculously talented cast in a movie which promises to be among the years best. The synopsis from IMDB reads "A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly purchased operating system that€™s designed to meet his every need." While admittedly this sounds odd, Jonze has made better movie out of even stranger plots. With Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, and Amy Adams in tow, Her should be an extremely effective, original, odd, brilliant film that will end up being one of the year's best (no trailer, so enjoy WTWT are instead).
