Predicting The 20 Best Movies Of 2013

18. Star Trek: Into Darkness

JJ Abrams' 2009 reboot of the Star Trek series was met with considerable financial success as well as near universal acclaim from critics. There is however a small but vocal group of fans who were not happy with the way Abrams dumbed down the Trek universe in an attempt to appeal to more mainstream taste. Both sides of the argument will find more fuel for their fires after the release of the sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness later this year as more then likely it will follow in the original's footsteps, being more of a straight up action movie than previous Star Trek films. Abrams stylish directing, incredible visuals, and the potentially iconic performance of Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain make Star Trek: Into Darkness one of the most anticipated blockbusters of 2013. While the film will no doubt be filled with its share of dumb blockbuster moments there's no reason to expect that it won't be at least a fun, engaging, thrill ride of a movie.
