Ranking 10 Most Exciting Upcoming Star Wars Performances
The force is strong with these cast members.
We might still have a good six months to wait until the release of the latest instalment in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about what – or more specifically, who – we’re going to see in the forthcoming films.
Currently very little is known about the as yet untitled Episode IX or the similarly untitled third film in the Star Wars anthology series, other than wishful rumours that it could be an Obi -Wan Kenobi origin story. So while details remain hush-hush we’ll concentrate on what we do know about the cast members behind The Last Jedi and the solo Han Solo movie set for release next spring.
Things might get emotional with The Last Jedi being one of Carrie Fisher’s last performances, but we’ll also be treated to juicier roles from franchise favourites, a few new cast members and the delightfully dashing actor about to fill Harrison Ford’s shoes as the young Han Solo.
Read on for the performances we can't wait to see in that galaxy far, far away...
10. Andy Serkis – Supreme Leader Snoke
The Force Awakens really left us hanging when it came to the
mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke. While we still don’t know much about him other
than he’s pretty creepy looking (at least in hologram form) and wouldn’t seem
out of place standing next to Voldemort in a Harry Potter film, and that he’s
the ruler of the First Order and seems to be the puppetmaster pulling Kylo
Ren’s strings.
Since his first appearance fan theorists have been going wild trying to guess Snoke’s true identity – is he Mace Windu? Darth Vader resurrected? Or is he the titular Last Jedi? – though recent word from director Rian Johnson suggests his origin won’t be revealed in the next instalment.
That isn’t to say Snoke won’t be playing a bigger role in The Last Jedi than he did in The Force Awakens, but we will probably have to wait until Episode IX before we get any truly juicy info on him. Still, it’ll be great to see Andy Serkis – the king of motion capture performance – to reprise his role.
