Verdict: Mercury 13 is an at once heartbreaking and uplifting documentary about 13 female pilots who underwent testing to be the first Americans in space, only to be cast aside because, well, sexism.

Short and to the point, the film provides insight into the politics of the time while catching up with many of the subjects as they are today.

As a celebration of women in science and the awe-inspiring nature of flight in general - cemented via some gorgeous aerial cinematography - this is an infuriating examination of what could've been but also a proud testament to how society has moved on.
