Ranking Every Billion Dollar Movie - From Worst To Best
22. Despicable Me 3
Box Office: $1,032,150,320
Given the financial performance of both Despicable Me 2 and Minions, nobody should have been surprised to see the fourth film in the series jump the one billion dollar marker. It could have been absolutely terrible and it would still have had awesome, terrifying box office power.
The best things to say about it are that it's better than Minions (not hard) and also probably better than Despicable Me 2. There's successful humour in there, it looks good (which is particularly good with how often studios cut back on sequels) and it delighted kids - which is all it really needed to aim at anyway.
Watching it with low expectations, you'd have been delighted by Trey Parker's hilarious villain, the gags aimed squarely at adults and the visuals. And that's all a good bonus, really.
