Ranking February 2015’s Movies From Worst To Best

9. The DUFF

RottenTomatoes Score: 64% (5.8/10 average) Box Office: Made on a slim $8 million budget, The DUFF made $12 million in its opening weekend, so should prove profitable enough in the long run. Aside from the presence of Mae Whitman, there wasn't a lot of hope for this one: the poster art and promotional images all look like an awful straight-to-video movie, but believe it or not, The DUFF is actually a surprisingly smart and entertaining little entry into the teen comedy genre. Sure, it doesn't do a whole lot to reinvent the wheel (the reliance on social media is a little grating yet undeniably relevant), but Whitman's charm carries it along just fine, and some critics even dared to compare it to the Golden Age of John Hughes' teen movies.
