RottenTomatoes Score: 98% (8.7/10) Box Office: There was much concern over whether George Miller's $150 million, R-rated action extravaganza would flop, namely because the new generation of film fans just might not care for Mad Max one bit. As it turned out, the nay-sayers were largely wrong, for while Fury Road won't break many records, it's currently made $230.8 million, and will see a healthy boost this weekend also, likely coming in at third place. Most crucially, if it continues to chug along past the $300 million mark thanks to international grosses, then the prospect of a sequel becomes much more likely. Director George Miller already seems pretty confident in it happening, so fingers are certainly crossed. The Verdict: What else can be said about Fury Road that hasn't been already? What could've been a shallow but entertaining action film is instead an all-timer, one of the most explosive, beautifully filmed and gleefully bonkers films ever made, for $150 million no less. The action sequences are mind-bogglingly spectacular, the performances are great (especially Charlize Theron as Furiosa), and it's even got strong character work and a simple but efficient plot.
