Rotten Tomatoes Score: 58% (6.2/10) Box Office: Budgetary information isn't available, but to date the film has grossed just $1.2 million, which given its star-studded cast makes it a sure bomb. The Verdict: Robert Redford playing legendary CBS anchor Dan Rather during his controversial exit from the network is unquestionably dream casting, so quite a surprise it is that Redford ultimately ends up taking a back seat to Cate Blanchett, who steals the show as his producer, Mary Mapes. Strong performances can't elevate Truth enough, though: it's a disappointingly by-the-numbers effort that boils the politics of the situation down to layman's terms and pretty much drains most interest out of it in the process. With lukewarm reviews and a terrible box office showing, Truth is destined to lose its important subject matter in the awards shuffle, relegated to Netflix viewings on a rainy Sunday night.
