He looks young now, but Sonys gruelling plans for Spider-Man would see an extended universe solely for Spidey and his associates. The actor is already in his thirties, so it cant be long before such a role is beyond plausibility. Parker is a high school kid in this franchise, so when Garfields baby-face grows into mid-life adulthood, the franchise would be left dead in the water. Shared universes arent going to die anytime soon, so it is imperative that studios retain actors for as long as possible - Garfield doesnt have that long left where he can fit into the Peter Parker role. Sony planned a number of spin off ventures for The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, with a Sinister Six movie, a Venom spin-off and at least two more Amazing Spider-Man films. With the third film already being pushed back to 2018 it would look as if Sony intends to stretch this franchise to span nearly a decade, and seeing as Andrew Garfield is 31 now, its hard to see how he could play a young Peter Parker for that long.
