Tony Stark was the guy who brought Spider-Man into the MCU (in-universe, anyway), and we've long known that Robert Downey Jr. would have a role in this movie.

It looks like it'll be a fair bit more than a cameo, with Stark serving as a mentor to young Peter. That's what he's doing when he first appears in the trailer, getting a typical Stark line, telling Peter to aim for the tiny grey area between the things Stark would and wouldn't do. He then opens the door, which definitely isn't him giving Peter a hug.
