Star Trek 3: 10 Directors Who Could Replace JJ Abrams

By T.J. Barnard /

4. Bryan Singer

Why He Should: Bryan Singer has proven he can bring credibility to existing franchises - his original X-Men entries are two of the best superhero movies ever made. He's also a director who can handle large-scale visual effects and sequences clad in CGI. What makes him especially ripe for something like this, though, is his ability to work with a large cast, a point that will undoubtedly play a huge part in assuring a third entry in the Star Trek saga is worth an audience's time. Singer himself is also a huge fan of the sci-fi genre in general, meaning that this would emerge as a kind of passion project for the director, assuring that he will absolutely do the best job he can possibly muster. Why He Shouldn't: Singer's films can be occasionally hit and miss, and the director has been known to produce work that is occasionally bland or passable. Overall Probability: 6/10
