Why He Should: Matthew Vaughn is an assured and competent director whose key quality lies in the fact that he know exactly how to give audiences bang for their buck. Kick-Ass, for what it's worth, is one of the most fully entertaining superhero movies ever made - one that knowingly acknowledged its influenced and subsequently surpassed them. Is that somebody that Vaughn would be able to repeat for the third in a trilogy? Vaughn has also proven that he can tackle multiple genres with ease, meaning that his first ever sci-fi film has a good chance of success: he has a very consistent body of work to his name. Why He Shouldn't: He's a bit of a franchise chop and changer, and although he's pretty well-suited to the material here, Paramount might not be best-pleased with the fact that he abandoned the X-Men franchise. Overall Probability: 6/10
