9. Fantastic Documentaries That Celebrate Its History And Achievements
Surprisingly, it was the US and not the UK that launched a series of documentaries over its anniversary year, celebrating each Doctor and their contribution to the show. Though later we did get some wonderful little segments; Doctor Who The Ultimate Guide was a celebration of its entire history and Brian Cox's The Science Of Doctor Who was a fun glimpse into the theory behind the magic. Arguably, the opportunity to discuss and celebrate Star Trek's achievements is endless. Here are just a few topics the celebrations could cover... Predicting the future: From ipads to mobile phones - Star Trek presented a future where all these technologies were possible. That's a whole documentary there alone, visiting how the franchise predicted our future. The chronology of the Star Trek universe: Across five TV shows (six if you count the animated series) and twelve films, Star Trek has presented a vast future for humanity, from the Eugenics Wars to the temporal cold war of the 31st century. It would be wonderful to chart every event, preceding, during and after the shows. The greatest stories ever told: Across 726 episodes, we have witnessed some iconic stories - from Where No Man Has Gone Before, to Yesterday's Enterprise to In The Pale Moonlight. The 50th gives plenty of opportunity to revisit these classic tales. More so that any other franchise, Star Trek has a rich history that needs to be explored and celebrated. These are just a few suggestions. Done right, we could have months of rich material to get our teeth into.
