The Fiveish Doctors proved that a show could celebrate its history but still have plenty of tongue-in-cheek humour. It nicely balanced the drama of the 50th special episode Day Of The Doctor and An Adventure In Space And Time. It poked fun at the original actors, played up on the whole 'will Classic Doctor's appear in the 50th' question and still provided a heartfelt celebration of everything that made Doctor Who so great. It was a celebration of the fans by the former Doctors - fans of Doctor Who as much as they were the stars. Star Trek could easily build on this. It wouldn't be hard to imagine Patrick Stewart and his Next Generation cast playing up older versions of their iconic characters and there's already a perfect vehicle for this; the TNG season eight Twitter feed, which plays up on the A / B plots and pokes fun at the show and its characters. What better than seeing the cast playing out these little gems in mini-sodes, or voicing animated versions of their characters. Here are some of the best examples currently on Twitter. A nymphomaniac worm controls Rikers mind and body to seduce the Enterprise's female crew. Nobody notices, it eventually dies of old age.A holodeck error populates the Enterprise with ice age beasts. Barclay gets trapped in the dividing hallway as the saucer section separates.Troi guides a dying ensign through his final, emotional journey. Data & Geordi are trapped on a conference room table by a scary dog.Riker cautiously dates a sexy, sentient bomb. Picard drinks water wrong, awkwardly coughs for ten minutes in front of an angry Romulan. If you loved these, there's plenty more on Twitter. Imaging these recreated for a special 50th anniversary celebration could be the highlight of the entire anniversary.
