Star Wars: 14 Awesome Deleted Scenes You Won't Believe They Cut
11. Padme's Parents' House - Attack Of The Clones
Now, as terrible as most of the Anakin-Padme romance was in Attack of the Clones in particular, there was some genuinely decent character development that, in true George Lucas fashion, ended up on the cutting room floor. Their ridiculous roll through the grass and all that toe-curlingly awful dialogue, though, was apparently fine.
In this sequence, Padme takes Anakin to her parents' home on Naboo, where they have dinner with Padme's father and sister. What really makes this sequence significant is that it significantly humanises Padme and makes her more than the fairly cold, distant politician that she's largely depicted as in the latter two prequels.
There's some real warmth here, especially when she shows Anakin some holograms of her humanitarian work in her bedroom, and it's rare cinematic evidence of the two actors having palpable on-screen chemistry.
And let's be honest, it's really cool seeing a bunch of kids playing with R2-D2, because didn't we all want to do that when we were tiny?
