Star Wars: Alden Ehrenreich Confirms He's Signed On For THREE Films
He's waited for a shot like this for a long time.
We are, remarkably, just a month away from the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which sees Alden Ehrenreich taking on the role of the iconic smuggler.
To promote the movie, Ehrenreich gave a big interview to Esquire where he talked about the troubled production, working with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and confirmed previous rumours about his contract. It was reported back in 2016 that he'd signed on for multiple films, and he's now admitted that is the case, saying:
"Three. I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public. But - yeah.”
That doesn't necessarily mean we're getting a Han Solo trilogy, or that we'll even see Ehrenreich in future movies, but it does leave the possibility for more Han appearances wide open. If Solo is a big success (although that's looking doubtful right now) then it wouldn't be a surprise to see them planning further instalments, or something like a Lando movie that he could then appear in.
It's worth noting that Felicity Jones also had a sequel option in her Rogue One contract, but there is more flexibility in terms of how Ehrenreich could be used going forwards.
The actor also denied reports that the actors applauded upon hearing the news of Lord and Miller's dismissal, saying: "That’s bullsh*t. For a crew to do that would mean they hated [Lord and Miller], which was not by any stretch the case.”
He added that the had a goof relationship with them and felt emotional when they told him of their departure, but that Howard "knew how to navigate a tricky situation, and almost from the first or second day everybody pretty quickly recharged and got excited again about the movie.”
