Lucasfilm Have A Good Feeling About Alden Ehrenreich, Planning Han Solo Trilogy
What are the odds of this happening? Actually, don't tell me...
Lucasfilm finally confirmed the casting of Alden Ehrenreich at the recent Star Wars Celebration Europe, months after the world knew about it.
He's been cast to play the young Han Solo in the upcoming standalone movie, which will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and released in 2018.
However, that may not be the only time Ehrenreich dons the famous vest, and I don't just mean his rumoured cameo in Star Wars: Rogue One. According to the New York Daily News, Disney and Lucasfilm are already planning multiple Han Solo movies, quoting an insider as saying:
"There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han’s early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters."
It's hardly a surprise, given Disney are looking to maximise every ounce of potential (and potential profit) they can from Star Wars, and Solo is a beloved character and recognisable name. Of course, it may all depend on how the first movie turns out, for which we're going to have to wait a couple of years.
