Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Big Questions From What We Know So Far

3. How Will It Tie To Rebels?

Rogue One script writer Gary Whitta has been hired to write at least one episode of Star Wars: Rebels, Disney XD€™s animated series that bridges the gap between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope. This suggests some interconnectivity between the properties. But how will that work? If there€™s set to be a full-blown crossover, with Rebels characters cropping up in live-action form during Rogue One, Lucasfilm have done very well to keep it under wraps. There€™s been no talk of a cinematic Kanan or Ezra being cast, for instance. And even if there was, their Jedi abilities wouldn€™t chime with the Force-free style we€™ve been told to expect from Rogue One. Instead, maybe the Rogue One/Rebels crossover will take further inspiration from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Therein, since Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. launched, the characters that originate on the TV series have never appeared in a film. The show reacts to the films, but the movies don€™t return the favour. If Lucasfilm follow this template, Gary Whitta€™s Rebels episode could see the Ghost crew€™s response to the stealing of the Death Star plans. Maybe, having heard about this colossal event, they€™ll launch a new attack against Vader while his resources are weakened.
