Star Wars: Rogue One - 10 Niggling Concerns No Fan Wants To Admit

6. That Second Trailer Really Spelled Things Out

The teaser trailer was effective in generating intrigue, raising questions, hinting towards possible characters and settings without necessarily spelling things out. There were glimpses throughout the teaser, enough to peak interests anyway, encouraging discussion and speculation in regards to the various significances not imminently available.

The second trailer left something to be desired, as well as plenty of room for concern. For one thing, the entire plot was spelled out, even revealing one potential twist – the return of the protagonist’s father (Mads Mikkelsen) who many may have presumed dead following his work on the Death Star, but returns in imperial uniform later in the trailer.

Besides that, there’s an awkward sentimentalism running through the trailer, the second half especially in which Felicity Jones communicates several heavy-handed sound bites on hope, having heart and rebelling against adversity, which are admittedly appropriate, but strangely forced, at least in terms of delivery.
