Thankfully, The Last Jedi's litany of surprising revelations ensures that fans have a lot to digest coming out of the cinema, and debates are likely to rage for years about some of the movie's more divisive moments.
Though Johnson does answer a lot of The Force Awakens' dangling threads, he smartly leaves a lot up in the air too, while also posing many new questions to make fans even more desperate to see Episode IX.
