Star Wars: The WORST Scene In Every Skywalker Saga Film
The worst Star Wars scenes! A New Hope's CGI Jabba The Hutt to The Last Jedi's Canto Bight escape.
Star Wars is one of the most successful film franchises of all time and for good reason. It gave us iconic characters like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It took us to amazing new planets, introduced us to crazy alien creatures and inspired us all to try and move something with our minds at least once. Whether your favourite films are the originals, the prequels, or the sequels, every movie gives us something to love.
Unfortunately, a lot of these movies also give us something to hate. Yes, although Star Wars on the whole is beloved and critically acclaimed, there are still individual instalments within this franchise that aren't as beloved. Or, at least, are more likely to start fights in the comments section.
But even in the higher regarded movies, there are moments which just don't work as well as they should. Scenes which leave fans scratching their heads and maybe fast-forwarding through them altogether on a rewatch.
Let's take a look at the films in the main series, dubbed the Skywalker Saga, and see which scene from each one stands out as the worst.
9. A New Hope: Jabba The Hutt's Cameo
Unfortunately for many Star Wars fans, George Lucas couldn’t leave well enough alone when it came to the original Star Wars movies. As technology advanced, he insisted on returning to his old efforts and ‘improving’ them with the latest in computer generated imagery.
The most infamous of these alterations from A New Hope is obviously Greedo shooting first before Han returns fire and kills him, in an effort to make the latter character more family friendly in his actions. But perhaps even worse is the scene where Jabba the Hutt confronts Han Solo just before he boards the Millennium Falcon.
This scene was actually filmed back in 1977, with the intention of have Jabba as a stop-motion character, but was cut because it was useless filler that didn’t add anything to the film. It still doesn’t.
Even with the audience now knowing how important Jabba will become later on in the trilogy, it still grinds the action of the movie to a halt for no real reason.
Here’s hoping that some day we can get the original cut of the movie back without all the bells and whistles.
