Suicide Squad: 10 Major New Plot Hints From The Blitz Trailer

Is that Tattoo Man talking to Joker?

Just in case you still weren't convinced that Suicide Squad is something you'd like to pay money to see, this week Warner Bros. threw out another trailer - presumably in an attempt to try to convince anybody who decided to give up on the DC Cinematic Universe after Batman V Superman's critical failings to give the whole concept another chance. Please.

The trailer, which has been branded as the "Blitz Trailer," is interesting for a number of reasons, though.

Firstly, the fact that it actually exists is an interesting reveal in its own right; that the studio felt the need to unveil even more footage in the wake of the last trailer is telling of their desire to market the hell out of this movie. Secondly, despite being mostly focused on neatly-edited action, there's a lot of new plot hints and secrets that are given away in its two-and-a-half minute runtime.

That's right: you may not realise it, but this trailer is absolutely jam-packed with revelations and tidbits concerning Suicide Squad's plot. Here's all the new stuff that were able to learn from the Blitz...

10. The Suicide Squad Are Created As Superman Insurance

First off, the Blitz trailer makes a huge point of letting us know that it's set in the same universe as Batman V Superman (just in case you weren't aware).

But in doing so, the entire film seems to have repositioned itself from a plot perspective, as David Harbour's shady government official, Derek Tolliver (a character from the comic books), ponders:

"Gentlemen, ladies, what if Superman had decided to fly down, rip off the roof of the White House, grab the President right out of the Oval Office? Who would have stopped him?"

Are we to assume from these words that the Suicide Squad is in fact created as a means of Superman insurance or control? It's certainly not a angle that any of the previous trailers have pushed on us, though it's definitely an interesting reveal. I'm hoping that they explore this in more detail, as opposed to just a throwaway line designed to draw more people into the theatre (not that Cavill's Superman is much of a draw).
