Suicide Squad: 10 Major New Plot Hints From The Blitz Trailer

10. The Suicide Squad Are Created As Superman Insurance

First off, the Blitz trailer makes a huge point of letting us know that it's set in the same universe as Batman V Superman (just in case you weren't aware).

But in doing so, the entire film seems to have repositioned itself from a plot perspective, as David Harbour's shady government official, Derek Tolliver (a character from the comic books), ponders:

"Gentlemen, ladies, what if Superman had decided to fly down, rip off the roof of the White House, grab the President right out of the Oval Office? Who would have stopped him?"

Are we to assume from these words that the Suicide Squad is in fact created as a means of Superman insurance or control? It's certainly not a angle that any of the previous trailers have pushed on us, though it's definitely an interesting reveal. I'm hoping that they explore this in more detail, as opposed to just a throwaway line designed to draw more people into the theatre (not that Cavill's Superman is much of a draw).
