8. The Joker Pushes Harley From The Helicopter

Probably the biggest retooling in Suicide Squad focused on the Joker / Harley relationship, which was shown to be abusive in the original version. It was reshaped into more of a Goth romance, where any instance of Joker mistreating her badly was taken out.

The helicopter scene played out totally different at one stage, where Harley and Joker get into an argument and in the heat of the moment, he pushes her out. This was altered to make it look like he pushed her to save her life, with the chopper being shot down soon after.

The knowledge he was trying to kill her changes the tone completely, underlining what a ruthless psycho Leto’s Joker was in the original conception.
