7. Sisu: Road to Revenge

Considering the cult success of 2022's action thriller Sisu, it was assumed that last year's follow-up Sisu: Road to Revenge would basically be more of the same.

But not one to rest on his laurels, writer-director Jalmari Helander evidently saw this sequel as an opportunity to seriously ramp up the action and tone to basically cartoonish levels of absurdity.

Indeed, Sisu: Road to Revenge has a surprising amount in common with Looney Tunes, so committed is Helander to delivering hilariously over-the-top action, where tanks are flipped through the air with balletic abandon and missiles launched square into people's faces.

Though some took umbrage with how far Helander pushed the wacky action compared to the more "grounded" original, this sequel certainly strained itself to deliver a bigger, wilder follow-up, even on a budget of just $12 million.

While there's sure demand for a third film, between the sequel's softer-than-expected box office and Helander's own belief that Road to Revenge offers a fitting conclusion, it doesn't seem hugely likely.
