19. The Devil Wears Prada 2

It would've shocked nobody if The Devil Wears Prada 2 was simply the latest in a long line of decades-later legacy sequels which failed to recapture the lightning-in-a-bottle charms of the original.

Even with basically the entire cast and crew returning from the 2006 dramedy, there was no guarantee that this sequel would work, especially with the decision to cook up an entirely new story rather than adapt Lauren Weisberger's admittedly divisive sequel novel, Revenge Wears Prada.

But The Devil Wears Prada 2 is one of the stronger comedy sequels of recent years, largely thanks to the still-superb chemistry between Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, and the script's restrained approach to nostalgia-baiting the audience.

Furthermore, it actually has something to say about the state of modern journalism, which seems basically miraculous for a legacy sequel which could've so easily just been a shallow dine-out on the first film's success.
