Terminator Reboot: 5 Reasons Why It Will Inevitably Suck

4. Schwarzenegger Is Back Terminating

I am a huge fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger. When it was announced that he was going to be starring in the fifth Terminator movie, I was excited and also slightly cautious at the same time. As much as I hate to admit it, Schwarzenegger is not a young man anymore and I was hoping that he would have a role other than playing that of the Terminator in the new film. However, it looks like he is going to be playing the T-800 again. The chances are that he will also be a €˜€™good€™€™ Terminator again in a protecting role of sorts, because Schwarzenegger doesn€™t play villains anymore. And I am sure he will be given the leather jacket and sunglasses look, too, even though by the third movie the sunglasses were beginning to look like something of a running joke. Schwarzenegger also used his considerable clout to demand more catchphrases in Terminator 3. If he does that again, the film will end up looking like a parody rather than a serious entry in the Terminator franchise. If you try to force catchphrases into a script, they end up sounding cheesy. €˜€™I€™ll be back€™€™ didn€™t work because Cameron wanted a catchphrase in that scene - there is more to it than just writing a line and hoping people start quoting it. And let€™s not forget, Schwarzenegger was looking too old for his role in Terminator 3, and that was 10 years ago. He is going to struggle even more to be convincing as a cyborg now at the age of 66. He is also risking alienating long-term fans of the franchise if the film is below par and they see that he took the gig just for the fat paycheck.
