Worst Sequel - Terminator Genisys

Despite the fact that there hasn't been a great Terminator movie for a quarter of a century, the iconic status of Arnold Schwarzenegger's T800 and the franchise's name recognition means that Hollywood will continue to try and keep the struggling franchise alive, no matter how disappointing the last three entries have been. Despite a poor showing at the domestic box office Terminator Genisys turned out to be a hit in the all-important Chinese market and earned just over $440m worldwide, meaning the terrifying prospect of another Terminator movie remains a distinct possibility. While Schwarzenegger is clearly having fun in reprising his signature role, the one-dimensional charisma vacuum that is Jai Courtney delivers another wooden performance, giving the pivotal character of Kyle Reese all the screen presence and urgency of a spoon. The muddled mythology attempts to both retcon and reset the franchise's timeline but frequently reduces the story to an incoherent mess, not helped by patchy CGI and an on-the-nose 'technology is bad' message.
