The Biggest Mistake Each DCEU Film Has Made
4. Justice League: Being Made Too Soon
Justice League is a very underrated superhero film. In no way, shape or form is it a standout, memorable work but despite the messy story, atrocious villain and overall lack of weight, it is still well-acted, visually stunning, consistently fun and, considering the infamously troubled production, surprisingly coherent.
The writing is a definite issue, but in all honesty there was a very simple fix for Justice League: push it back.
It really was too early for the DCEU's Avengers-type movie. The franchise hadn't figured out its artistic identity or where it was really going yet and, with all of the shaky character arcs and uncertain, ultra-safe story that Justice League presents, it really shows.
It would've been a lot better to, at the very least, give Aquaman and the Flash solo movies before this for, even though Justice League introduced these characters very well, it would've been better to have known them a bit more first.
Had Warner Bros. really had a firm grasp on where this franchise was going, it's likely the production would've been far less hellish. Still, after this the franchise did (rightly) focus on solo movies and just building up the universe patiently, so clearly Warner Bros. are learning from past mistakes. Good on them.
