2. Not Everyone's On Board With Will's Transformation
The only person who seems okay with uploading Will's mind to the computer is his Wife, Evelyn. She's the one who initially finds the way to save him, and won't entertain the possibility of shutting him down once things go out of control. It's smart for Pfister to ground the more outlandish science fiction elements in human emotions and relationships. It will make the film more accessible for audiences and give us a reason to care about these characters. It will be interesting to see what kind of arc Evelyn is given, considering she's the reason things are allowed to proceed until there's seemingly no turning back. To be fair, she does try reasoning with Will, but by that point the man she once knew is gone.
