4. Deathstalker

Deathstalker adds yet more fuel to the argument that Hollywood should stop remaking good movies and let talented visionary filmmakers reimagine the intriguingly-premised bad ones instead.

With that in mind, it's admittedly not surprising that few registered much initial interest in a remake of 1983's infamous sword-and-sorcery schlock-fest Deathstalker. Some films - especially those overflowing with such rampant sexism - are simply best left in the past, right?

But the new Deathstalker had one hell of a secret weapon leading the charge - Psycho Goreman filmmaker Steven Kostanski, who pretty much just uses the Deathstalker branding as an excuse to serve up a smorgasbord of insanely impressive practical gore, makeup, and costumes, alongside a kick-ass Daniel Bernhardt performance.

The plot isn't worth the paper it's written on, but that's no different from the original. 

This is a card-carrying B-movie that knows exactly what its audience wants and delivers accordingly, even if being a remake of possibly the sleaziest fantasy film ever also limited its appeal.
